Despite the given leeway of 1964 to 1969, I started to believe they are 1965 exactly: while Plotz is mentioned already, no facts contradict the 1st edition (and Mélamarimma supports even); 'Comparative' directly quotes a text about pella which Tolkien apparently abandoned in early 1965 but obviously brought back (he never changed that to palla!)
