Hello! Any ideas as to what Gandalf might be saying in the scene with the dwarf? á orta fearya... ?

Александр Запрягаев Jul 18, 2015 (14:34)

I hear _nai orta fearyallo_… quite clearly, then it's trickier.

Александр Запрягаев Jul 18, 2015 (16:31)

Vanwë sinë lehtandorya? The meaning is yet unclear to me; lehtandorya is obviously 'his releaser, one who releases him'.

Leonard W. Jul 19, 2015 (13:56)

Indeed is it difficult!  A friend was asking me, and I frankly couldn't hear the words through the noise and the music.

+Leonard W. It is strange that the first line in one syllable short for Kalevala — I guess a huge junk of text was deleted while editing. The first word is definitely two-syllable but the first one is totally concealed by edits. My current hypothesis is:
Nwalme orta fearyallo,
Nauvan sínen lehtandorya

[Pain raises out of his soul, thus I shall be his releaser].

+Александр Запрягаев I thought I heard auta instead of orta when I watched the film at the cinema

Leonard W. Jul 21, 2015 (23:03)

+Александр Запрягаев It's a good theory, I'd say! :) Thanks!

+Tamas Ferencz +Leonard W. After a new re-listen, I heard totally different words. Tambë sívë? Now I actually hear Aiya núta fearyallo, tambë sívë lehtandory*o* (though that doesn't make any sense!). Maybe we should write a collective letter to David Salo and ask to share some of his Quenya workshop?

Leonard W. Aug 23, 2015 (14:38)

That would certainly be an interesting thing to do! I presume the script hasn't been released?

Александр Запрягаев Aug 23, 2015 (15:02)

+Leonard W. It never was. Especially not of the Extended Editions. And, which is much worse, we still have no idea about the soundtrack texts — and, I guess, will never have unless we get it from David.

well, Elfling is still open; although David has never been very eager to discuss his movie dialogs, as far as I can remember...

weird things Gandalf repeats the last two syllables (dorya/yo/ye?) as if it were a separate word. Which it can be, but then I have no idea what.

+Tamas Ferencz I believe Ian just improvised in this final part. After all, he doesn't know where the morphemes are divided!

Actually, he encourages to contact him at the submit form on ; but he says his Khuzdul lines are 'a little more interesting than some of the other languages'; so, he prefers to discuss rather his Khuzdul now.
