I wonder if the NQ word for Chritmas is Hrístonostare (as widely used), would it have eroded over the centuries of use into something like *Hrisnos? :) (But then it would probably change to *Hrinsos through metathesis)

Sure, turuhalme has the benefit of being an attested word, but I think its relation to Christmas is like that of Yule(tide).

Above I was only half-jokingly wondering whether the erosion of that Quenya compound could produce a word that is, after all, not so far from the IRL word (in terms of shape and sound).
