There is a problematic word in the VQP, or rather, a problematic gloss. losta- would be "to bloom", not "to sleep" if I've understood things correctly. lor- might be a better word for "to sleep".

So I suggested. PE17 with its heavy extrapolations on LOTH 'flower' and reassigning LOS > LOR gives that.

And loth + -ta gives losta? Because *lothta or lothda sounds weird. Maybe *lotha- as "to bloom"?

+Hjalmar Holm Well, not loth + tā but loth + T(a), but that is exactly what happens: CQ tht > CE st and on. Cf. kothta > cost.
