In Quenya, how would you express 'for' in 'thanks[giving] to sb for sth' (hantale quenna ? nat)? Would epe or po as in epetai/potai ('therefore, for that') be possible?

+Björn Fromén my feeling is that it would use either simple accusative + dative (hantan lye I annan), or the preposition "for, on behalf", same as in á hyame rá men), cf. in Hungarian könyörög érte "prays for it" and köszönetet mond érte "says thanks for it".

Other ideas: (+acc); natto-ssë, -n (+poss/gen)¹; (gen/abl+) *hilwa/hilimbë, hil(V-n) [adv.]; (lé/ló) ... casta ² — if (+dat) somehow wasn't an option for this sense with inanimates.

Latin pro (Sp. por) = OIc. fyrir, plus the gloss "following that, thereupon, thence, whereupon" of epeta certainly make epë, pó a rather smart (if not even THE smartest) suggestion.

(In Finnish the elative of topic is the common choice, vs. gen+ johdosta, a postposition comparable with Latin ob, propter. [Lat. ob- = Q enda-?])
