Reconstruction of QVS pronominal affixes in verbs

Basic concept: S prefix>V tense-infinitive>S number marker (r final/l medial/n 1st person objects pl., t final/s medial dl.: 94)>O suffix.

The 2nd person distinction is 'curt' vs. 'polite', 3rd person is 'near' vs. 'far' (109, cf. 94-5)

Subjective prefixes (all 123)

1sg. ni
2sg. ke, le
3sg. e, the
1dl. me, ñwe
2dl. ke, le
3dl. tú, thú
1pl. me, ñwe
2pl. ke, le (here and below number suffixes provide necessary distinction)
3pl. he, the

Objective suffixes (basic forms; complete follows short)

1sg. n(e)
2sg. t (ke), l(e)
3sg. s (te), th(e)
1dl. met, ngwet (highly conjectural)
2dl. ket, let (highly conjectural)
3dl. tu, thu (possibly)
1pl. me, ngwe(?)
2pl. ki, li (conjectural)
3pl. ti, thi

The 51 compound forms, which I put on mela 'to love', are something like these (sg./dl./pl.):

Sg.

ni
(ni) melan(e) '(I) love myself'
(ke) melasne > melanne (or melarne, if distinction is desired to be kept) '(you two) love me'
(ke) melanne '(they) love me' etc.

ke
melat(-ke)
melaske > melaxe
melalke

le
melal(e)
melasle > melalle (PE19:102)
melalle

e
melas(-te)
melaste
melalte

the
melath(e)
melasthe > melaste
melalthe > melalte

Dl.

me
melamet
melasmet > melalmet
melanmet > melanwet (melammet? Cf. PE19:096)

ñwe
melañwet > melangwet
melasñwet > melarwet?
melanñwet > melanwet?

ke
melaket
melasket > melaxet
melalket

le
melalet
melaslet > melallet
melallet

melatu
melastu
melaltu

thú
melathu
melasthu > melastu
melalthu > melaltu

Pl.

me
melame
melasme > melalme
melanme > melanwe (melammet?)

ñwe
melañwe > melangwe
melasñwe > melarwe?
melanñwe > melanwe?

ke
melaki
melaski > melaxi
melalki

le
melali
melasli > melalli
melalli

he
melati
melasti
melalti

the
melathi
melasthi > melasti
melalthi > melalti

Per nihare 125, I'd expect the prefixes to participate in stress-system.

Does that refer to Common Eldarin?

Александр Запрягаев Apr 17, 2016 (19:25)

No, I reconstruct the Quenya usage. Presumably, the CE forms are mostly the same (no shortened objects, long vowel in stem, less assimilations, Tolkien explicitly says 'no n in 1st person') however.

And what is wrong with PE17:57 or VT49:16 schemes?

Александр Запрягаев May 11, 2016 (21:09)

+Ицхак Пензев Why, I'm just re-creating in whole the bits of the 1948 Quenya grammar (the last complete one) from what is given in the verb section. Merely in order to understand the sample sentences better!
